Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Payroll Lead in Perth to manage payroll coordination for a workforce of over 700 employees. The role involves governance, compliance, and liaising with the payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely payroll deliveries.

The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end payroll processes, support audits, and drive process improvements across Australia, with consideration for West Coast hours and cross-border payroll requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience managing Australian payroll operations.
• Experience working with outsourced payroll providers.
• Strong payroll reconciliation, reporting and audit support.
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders across multiple functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end Australian payroll delivery across weekly, monthly, adjustment and international assignee payroll cycles.
• Review payroll outputs, reconciliations, variances and validations prior to payroll approval.
• Manage payroll-related activities including terminations, redundancies and salary arrangements.
• Support internal and external audits and payroll documentation.
