Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Payroll Analyst for a short-term, on-site role in Knoxfield (Melbourne area). The contract runs for three weeks with parking provided and starts immediately.

You will analyse and reconcile six years of historical payroll and timekeeping data and perform backpay calculations using established payroll rules. You will review overtime payments, investigate data anomalies, and deliver clear working papers to support Payroll, HR, and Finance reviews.

Qualifications

• Strong Australian payroll experience.
• Exposure to payroll remediation and audits.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience reconciling payroll vs time and attendance.
• Solid understanding of payroll calculations, overtime and allowances.
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and investigate data anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and reconcile approximately six years of historical payroll and timekeeping data.
• Review hours worked against overtime payments and calculate discrepancies.
• Perform employee-level backpay calculations using established payroll rules.
• Investigate missing, duplicate, incomplete, or inconsistent payroll data.
• Reconcile calculations back to payroll records and maintain an audit trail.
• Prepare detailed employee schedules and summary reports for payroll review.
• Deliver working papers and documentation to support Payroll, HR, and Finance review processes
