Job summary

Monash Health is seeking a Patient Services Assistant to join Moorabbin Hospital on a part-time ongoing basis. You will support the clinical team with ward cleaning, patient transfers and equipment handling, while upholding infection prevention protocols and patient dignity.

Mandatory qualification: Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, with proven experience in hospital, aged care or cleaning settings.

Qualifications

  • Experience in patient services within hospital, aged care or cleaning settings.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and hygiene practices.
  • Passion for patient care with respect and empathy.
  • Reliable and punctual team member with good verbal and written communication.
  • Intermediate computer skills to support daily tasks and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to following manual handling, safety protocols and procedural instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans.
  • Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs.
  • Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.

About the Role

Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant on a part time ongoing basis to work at Moorabbin Hospital.In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the General Services Supervisor and working with the broader Support Services team.

PSAs pay a vital role in supporting the clinical team in the delivery of patient care. They do a range of tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning, patient transfers, and equipment handling. Working as part of a team and on their own, PSAs are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and patient support across the hospital.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans
  • Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs
  • Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.
  • Patient discharge assistance
  • Mortuary transfers
  • Ward equipment, cleaning and transferring
  • Ensuring patient privacy and dignity at all times
  • Supporting clinical staff with patient care tasks as directed
  • Physical work including lifting and manual handling

We currently have the following opportunity available

Week 2 and Week 3 Wednesdays – DPC Level 2 ( 09:00–17:30 )

Week 4 Wednesday – Surgical Ward ( 06:30–15:00 )

About You

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Experience in patient services within hospital, aged care or cleaning settings
  • Strong knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices
  • Passion for patient care, consistently demonstrating respect and empathy
  • Reliable and punctual team member with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills to support daily tasks and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Committed to following manual handling, safety protocols and procedural instructions
