About the role

Are you a Patient Services Assistant with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and a passion for delivering high quality patient care?

John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking applications from skilled Patient Services Assistant for our Medical Ward. This is a casual position with set shifts 6am-12pm, Monday to Friday.

About us

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit, we provide a wide range of services to its community. We specialise in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, gynaecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmics and vascular surgery.

Your responsibilities
  • Assist nurses or hospital staff in carrying out patient care duties
  • Work as part of the health care team; practice in accordance with state legislation and within the designated scope of practice parameters
  • Assess patients using therapeutic skills
  • Provide recommendations to specialist treatment programs based on their diagnosis
  • Certificate III/IV (from an approved training provider) in Community and Health Services or other relevant certification or a Bachelor of Nursing student (2nd year acute placement completed)
  • Excellent ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience as a PSA/AIN desired
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Works well independently and within a team
  • Basic computer skills

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on the current Enterprise Agreement.
