Job summary

NSW Health Pathology in Tamworth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support specimen reception and data entry. You will register requests, triage specimens, and prep items for transport while working with a skilled team to ensure timely diagnostic testing.

The role requires Certificate III in Pathology Collections or equivalent, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a busy lab with rotating shifts and travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Pathology Collections, or Pathology Assistance and/or prior pathology experience.
• Ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment with competing priorities.
• Effective communication with colleagues and customers; data accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Receive, triage and register specimens; enter requests; prepare specimens for transport to labs.
• Support a fast-paced pathology service and ensure timely, accurate diagnostic testing.
• Operate and maintain pre-analytical equipment as required and travel as needed.
