Job summary

Healius is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our pathology teams, ensuring accurate processing of specimens and timely data entry within specimen reception. This permanent part-time role schedules 38 hours per fortnight with shifts from 11:00 to 19:30, Monday to Friday, supporting core laboratories and reliable diagnostic turnaround.

Qualifications

• Previous exposure to a laboratory or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Certificate in pathology or laboratory skills is desirable.
• Strong accuracy, time management and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with accuracy.
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens in systems.
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within timeframes.
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalate where required.
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections.
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing.
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow procedures.
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and a safe environment.
