Job summary

AFL Recruitment is seeking a KEY member of a top IP firm to advise and create strategies protecting patent rights for local and international clients. You will draft, review, and prosecute patent applications, manage portfolios, and engage with commercial advisors, reporting to the CEO/Founding Partner in a dynamic, flexible environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a registered Australian/NZ patent attorney.
• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronic or aeronautical fields.
• Hands-on experience with both mechanical and software patents; some opposition experience preferred.
• Strong technical, analytical and communication/people skills; strong commercial acumen.

WHO YOU ARE

We are interested in hearing from you if you:

have a minimum of 2 years or more post-qualification experience as a registered Australian/NZ patent attorney [or are an overseas qualified patent attorney currently nearing qualification in Australia/NZ];

have a degree or higher qualification in ENGINEERING [electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, aeronautical]

have hands‑on experience in BOTH mechanical patents and software patents and some opposition experience [preferable];

have strong technical, analytical + communication/people skills + strong commercial acumen;
