Wickham Park School in Bromley is seeking a Pastoral Lead to join our newly opened SEN school. You will manage pastoral welfare, strategy and daily operations to ensure a nurturing environment for pupils aged 5-19 with SEMH, SLCN and Autism.

You’ll lead attendance, safeguarding, staff development and collaborate with the Headteacher to develop pastoral provision. A passionate advocate for students and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading pastoral welfare in SEN/SEMH settings.
• Ability to work strategically and operationally with the Headteacher.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Wickham Park SEN School in Bromley has recently opened and taken more children and we are recruiting for a Pastoral Lead to join the existing team

Wickham Park School is a brand-new SEN school in the heart of Bromley, South London. Set across three buildings, the school provides exceptional, modern learning facilities for up to 70 pupils aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Autism.

Wickham Park School’s site has an inspiring collection of warm, nurturing classrooms; a vibrant and fully resourced library; a specialist teaching kitchen; a creative art studio; and a suite of dedicated therapeutic and co-regulation spaces designed to support a rich diversity of needs.

In this key role you will support the management of the pastoral welfare requirements at our school, strategically and operationally. You will ensure that the ethos and standards are delivered at the school.You'll be a pivotal figure in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment, empowering students to reach their full potential. We offer comprehensive support and guidance to facilitate your growth in this essential role.

What you’ll get to do:

Strategic Leadership:

• Take the strategic lead in managing the safety and attendance of all learners.
• Be responsible for the implementation of the school’s systems, procedures, and policies in relation to attendance and punctuality.
• Assist the Headteacher in helping to develop procedures with regards to pastoral provision for all learners.

Team & Student Support:

• Foster a positive and ambitious team ethos, motivating and supporting staff.
• Monitor staff work, provide constructive challenge, and lead engaging assemblies.
• Be an exemplary leader in dealings with staff, pupils, parents, and outside agencies.
• Liaise with teachers to make appropriate arrangements for classes when staff are unexpectedly absent, ensuring appropriate cover within the year groups.

Staff Development & Recruitment:

• Conduct appraisal reviews and contribute to the effective induction of new staff.
• Participate in interviews and promote the school at open days and events.

Safeguarding & Intervention:

• Participate in Positive Handling and de-escalation techniques training.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people that you are responsible for or encounter.
