Job summary

Benetas is seeking a Pastoral Care Practitioner for Gisborne Oaks in Gisborne, VIC. You will provide inclusive, non-denominational pastoral care to residents, collaborate with families, and support spiritual well-being in a 75-bed aged care home.

This permanent part-time role offers flexible hours, with approx. $35 per hour plus super and salary packaging benefits, reflecting the not-for-profit ethos and opportunities for professional development within Benetas.

Qualifications

• CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) - minimum 1 unit and eligibility for Spiritual Care Australia
• Experience as a professional Pastoral Care Practitioner in an Allied Health role or equivalent
• Experience in documentation management, including spiritual assessments and progress notes
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with residents and families
• Resilience and compassion for complex spiritual care needs
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance ID or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Manage and respond to Allied Health referrals for Pastoral Care provision, assessing pastorally
• Provide 1:1 and group Pastoral Care including memorial services and spiritual support
• Deliver individualized, culturally sensitive care to residents and clients
• Foster Parish Partnerships and community engagement
• Promote Pastoral Care within the community and Benetas
• Collaborate with Community Engagement Coordinators and other stakeholders
• Respond to requests from residents, families, and staff for chaplaincy services
• Maintain a caseload of referrals, including minimum 20% of allocated residents

The Role

We’re seeking a Pastoral Care Practitioner for residents of our aged care home Gisborne Oaks in Gisborne, home to 75 residents.

• Managing and responding to Allied Health referrals for Pastoral Care provision, assessing and responding pastorally
• Providing 1:1 and group based inclusive/ non-denominational / multi-faith respectful Pastoral Care including Memorial Services, spiritual reminiscence, spiritual and emotional support
• Implementing individualised, culturally sensitive care to all residents and clients
• Supporting Benetas in the community including fostering Parish Partnerships
• Communicating and promoting the Pastoral Care Service within the community and within Benetas
• Working collaboratively with all stakeholders including Community Engagement Coordinators (Lifestyle)
• Responding to requests from residents, clients, their families and representatives, Benetas employees and volunteers for services, denominational visitors and local clergy providing chaplaincy, sacramental ministerial/church-based services and rituals
• Maintain a caseload of referrals - minimum 20% of allocated resident cohort

About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

• CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) - minimum 1 unit and eligibility for membership of Spiritual Care Australia
• Prior experience as a professional Pastoral Care Practitioner in an Allied Health role or equivalent
• Experience in effective documentation management, including spiritual assessments and progress notes
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships, and build rapport with residents and their families
• Demonstrated resilience and compassion when dealing with complex spiritual care needs, such as grief and loss
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance ID or ability to obtain
