Job summary

Redpath Australia seeks a motivated Paste Engineer to design, plan, coordinate and optimise paste fill and backfill systems for safe, efficient underground mining operations at Cowal Gold Operations.

This hands-on, site-based role works with paste crews and technical services to develop fill strategies, monitor infrastructure, troubleshoot issues and improve backfill processes to enhance mining outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mining, Geotechnical or related Engineering discipline.
• Underground hard rock mining experience is required.
• Exposure to paste fill, CHF or backfill systems is highly regarded.
• Experience using mining software is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are important.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain paste fill and backfill strategies.
• Design fill plans, schedules and placement strategies.
• Generate paste fill notes, engineering instructions and stope fill plans.
• Support optimisation of paste and cemented fill systems.
• Contribute to Life of Mine backfill planning activities.
• Monitor paste reticulation systems and infrastructure performance.
• Conduct inspections of paste fill activities and placements.
• Assist with troubleshooting operational issues.
• Support daily production reporting and schedule alignment.
• Maintain QA/QC testing programs.
• Monitor paste quality and compliance with engineering specifications.
• Ensure compliance with Backfill Management Plans and statutory requirements.

Redpath Australia is seeking a motivated and proactive Paste Engineer to join our team at Cowal Gold Operations.

Working closely with underground operations and technical services teams, you will be responsible for the design, planning, coordination and optimisation of paste fill and backfill systems that support safe and efficient underground mining operations.

This is a hands-on site-based role where you'll work alongside paste crews and operational teams to develop fill strategies, monitor paste infrastructure performance, troubleshoot operational issues and identify opportunities to improve backfill processes and mining outcomes.

This position operates on an 8/6 FIFO roster, offering the opportunity to work on a leading underground gold mining operation while maintaining a strong work-life balance.
