Mid-Western Regional Council invites applications for a Youth Services Officer (Part-time, 21 hours per week) to coordinate youth events across the region. The role requires a National Police History Check and a valid Working with Children Check, maintained throughout employment.

It is a job-share position with adjusted hours during school holidays to support larger events. The role focuses on engaging local youth, families and schools, promoting resources and services, and building partnerships

Responsabilités

• Develop strategies and plans for the provision of youth services beyond 2026
• Participate in community working parties and committees, including youth infrastructure and planning committees
• Raise awareness amongst young people, families and schools about resources and services available through libraries and facilities
• Develop and foster partnerships with other Council departments, youth agencies and external organisations
• Develop an annual program of displays and events reflecting youth interests and promoting local employment
• Prepare promotional material and risk assessments for youth events
• Provide support and referrals for youth-specific issues (job seeking, drug/alcohol awareness, sexual and mental health)
• Pursue alternate sources of funding for youth initiatives
• Encourage volunteering opportunities for local youth
• Assist in developing a youth-oriented social media presence for Council
• Provide written reports on progress of the Youth Strategy and Youth Officer role
