Job summary

Western Sydney University’s Macarthur Clinical School in Campbelltown seeks an academic at Academic Level C or D to advance surgical education and research. You will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, design learning activities, assess student performance, and contribute to curriculum development and educational delivery.

Level C focuses on research and supervision of higher degree students; Level D adds broader leadership and external collaborations with healthcare,

Qualifications

• Current registration, or eligibility for registration, as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA.
• Eligibility to hold a clinical appointment in Surgery at Campbelltown Hospital.
• Specialist surgical training with FRACS and consultant-level experience in a relevant clinical field.
• A PhD in a relevant discipline, or the qualifications and experience specified for the applicable academic level.
• Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, curriculum design and contemporary educational delivery.
• A strong research record appropriate to Academic Level C or D, including experience in research collaboration and postgraduate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Advance surgical education and research while supporting the development of future medical practitioners.
• Deliver teaching, research and academic leadership within the School of Medicine, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
• Design learning activities, assess student achievement and provide constructive feedback across different learning environments.
• Support curriculum development, educational quality assurance and the effective use of educational technologies and online delivery methods.
• At Academic Level C, conduct research, contribute to funding applications and supervise higher degree research students.
• At Academic Level D, provide broader academic leadership, lead research teams and build collaborations across the University and healthcare sector.
