Job summary

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School, Dunedoo, is seeking a School Support Officer (LSO) for a temporary part-time role commencing ASAP. The position involves 20 hours per week, supporting classroom teachers and students with learning needs in a Catholic school setting.

You will assist with remedial reading and maths programs, data collection for NCCD, and planning Personal Learning Plans while collaborating with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience and effectiveness as a Learning Support Officer, School Support Officer, Teacher’s Aide or equivalent.
• A capacity to work collegially and collaborate within a diverse team.
• Sound communication and organisational skills, punctuality and adaptability.
• Sound IT and technology skills.
• Hold Certificate III in School Based Education Support or above, or be working towards a tertiary degree in education.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs.
• Support and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment.
• Facilitate the remedial reading program (MacqLit and Reading Recovery). Training is provided.
• Facilitate the remedial Mathematics program (QuickSmarty). Training is provided.
• Assist with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD).
• Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions.
• Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure inclusion of all students in learning experiences.
• Apply behaviour management strategies to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Implement other programs with teachers and allied health professionals.
