Allpress is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our café team in New South Wales on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will work closely with the team to deliver a simple, quality food offering that complements our coffee and supports smooth service.

This role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in great food, and can adapt in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively and autonomously when needed.

Qualifications

• Confidence with food preparation and basic cooking.
• Strong food safety and hygiene standards.
• Fast, organised and reliable during busy service periods.
• Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards consistently.
• Team-focused and willing to jump across all kitchen duties.
• Availability for early mornings and weekends.
• Food Safety/Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Cafe Manager with food preparation for the day ahead.
• Washing dishes and maintaining a clean, organised back-of-house area.
• Ensuring food safety, cleanliness and quality standards are upheld throughout the day.
• Baking sweet treats and toasting sandwiches.
• Plating dishes and running the pass during service.
• Supporting the front-of-house team on the floor or till when required.
• Helping with stock organisation and general kitchen operations.
