Job summary

TLC Healthcare’s TLC Early Learning Mordialloc is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our Cook in preparing nutritious meals and keeping the kitchen clean and safe. This part-time role is based at our Early Learning Centre in Mordialloc.

You will assist with meal prep, stock management, food safety compliance, and maintaining hygiene. Applicants should have kitchen experience, interest in children's wellbeing, and ability to work in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience in childcare or food preparation is preferred.
• A genuine interest in supporting children’s health and wellbeing.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices.
• An understanding of dietary requirements and allergies.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our early learning kitchen. Working closely with the Cook, you’ll assist with food preparation, kitchen organisation, stock management and food safety compliance to ensure nutritious meals are delivered to children in a safe and efficient manner.

This is a part-time opportunity based at our beautiful Early Learning Centre in Mordialloc.

Key Responsibilities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience working in a kitchen, café, childcare or food preparation environment
• A genuine interest in supporting children’s health and wellbeing
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Basic cooking and food preparation skills
• Knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices
• An understanding of dietary requirements and allergies

Essential Requirements

• Working with Children Check
• Police Check
• Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
• Food Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain)
• Current influenza and COVID-19 vaccination status
