Job summary

NSW Health’s Clinical Genetics Service is seeking a Genetics Counsellor Level 1 for the SESLHD. This temporary part-time role (16 hours per week) focuses on clinic coordination, test logistics, and collaboration with geneticists and renal physicians in the general genetics and renal clinics.

The successful candidate will have postgraduate genetic counselling credentials or HGSA board eligibility, strong counselling skills, and proficiency with TrakGene, Excel and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Post graduate qualification in genetic counselling and/or HGSA board eligible status.
• Demonstrated skills in the provision of genetic counselling services.
• Broad knowledge of genetic counselling principles including medical, genetic and psychosocial aspects.
• Strong planning and organisational skills to manage time sensitive work.
• Proficiency with health information systems including TrakGene, MS Excel and EMR e.g. PowerChart.

Responsibilities

• Clinic coordination, intake calls and follow up.
• Organising genetic testing send outs, monitoring and follow up.
• Liaising with senior genetic counsellor and staff specialists including geneticists and renal physicians.
• Participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
