Job summary

Milgate Primary School in Melbourne is seeking a part-time First Aid Officer to support student health needs in a busy school environment. The role focuses on timely first aid, medication administration, and health record management, with responsibilities extending to incident reporting and liaison with families and staff.

The successful candidate will join a caring, collaborative office team, promoting wellbeing and safety for all students and staff while complying with departmental policies

Qualifications

• First Aid certification is required or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to work effectively within a school-based team.
• Experience in healthcare, education, or first-aid support is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide caring first aid to students, including injury assessment and treatment in Sick Bay.
• Administer medications and manage medical action plans for students with chronic conditions.
• Monitor students for signs of illness and provide appropriate care and support.
• Maintain accurate medical records and student health plans.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and follow school emergency protocols.
• Regularly inspect and restock first aid supplies and review medication use by dates.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and emergency services regarding health concerns.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Support health education and first aid awareness within the school community.
• Provide administrative support such as answering calls and handling inquiries.
