Job summary

Bright Beginnings Learning Centre is seeking a responsible, caring Chef to run the kitchen for children aged 6 months to 5 years at our Glendenning site. The role covers menu planning, fresh produce gardens, and nutrition education, with a permanent part-time schedule Mon-Fri 8:45 am–3:15 pm.

Requirements include a Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain), Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, and a Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).

Qualifications

• Food safety supervisor certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Certificate III in commercial cookery.
• Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
• Able to establish and maintain fresh produce gardens and create culturally diverse menus catering to dietary needs including allergies, intolerances, and infant purées.

Responsibilities

• Prepare morning tea, lunch, dessert, afternoon tea, and late snack for 78 children.
• Set and follow a rotating, nutritious, culturally diverse menu.
• Follow service food safety program; maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen.
• Communicate menu changes professionally with co-workers; stock ordering.
• Deliver nutrition education for children aged 3-5 and maintain fresh produce gardens.
