Job summary

Macquarie University Health invites an early-career General Cardiologist to join the Cardiovascular and Respiratory Program in a 0.1 FTE, fixed-term role for 12 months starting February 2027.

You will work half a day weekly in the WISE Emergency rapid access Cardiology outpatient clinic, assess referred patients, supervise investigations, and coordinate care with WISE Emergency physicians, with scope for academic involvement.

Qualifications

• Registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology, or equivalent qualification.
• Early post-fellowship experience in general cardiology, including emergency and acute care.
• Competence in supervising and reporting cardiac investigations (ECG, echocardiography, Holter, stress tests).
• Capacity to pursue clinical practice alongside academic training (PhD/clinical/research fellowship).

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid access outpatient general cardiology assessment for the WISE Emergency clinic.
• Supervise and report cardiac investigations (ECG, echocardiography, Holter, stress ECG/echo).
• Advise WISE Emergency physicians on patient management and arrange appropriate admissions.
• Participate in low-burden on-call cardiology duties with inpatient consults.
• Collaborate with nursing, allied health, and cardiac staff to ensure safe continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and communicate with patients and GPs.
• Contribute to cardiology MDT meetings, audits, and quality activities.
