Job description

Parking Warden
Your New Role:

Are you passionate about community safety, customer service and helping create safe, accessible public spaces? Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Parking Warden to join our team during peak holiday periods. In this role, you will undertake parking patrols, monitor compliance and promote safe, lawful and responsible parking practices across public roads, car parks and community spaces.

You will play an important role in supporting the fair and efficient turnover of parking spaces, improving accessibility for residents and visitors, and ensuring parking regulations are understood and followed.

Working in a dynamic, community-facing environment, you will balance enforcement responsibilities with education and positive customer engagement. You will provide accurate information, respond to parking-related enquiries and represent Council in a professional and approachable manner.

You will work closely with Rangers and Compliance Officers, undertaking patrols across allocated areas and taking appropriate enforcement action in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies, delegations and procedures.

This position operates on a rotating roster, with flexibility required to undertake on-call duties, including weekends, after-hours shifts and public holidays.

For a full list of the Key Accountabilities of the role, please refer to the Position Description.

About You:

You are a confident, approachable and adaptable individual who enjoys working with the community and can remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.

You understand the importance of balancing compliance and enforcement with education and excellent customer service. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and can confidently explain parking requirements, address concerns and manage potentially difficult customer interactions.

You are organised, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A current Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience and sound knowledge of the Australian Road Rules.
  • Completion of SEINS (Self Enforcing Infringement Notices System) training, or the ability to rapidly acquire this.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, particularly when dealing with challenging or potentially confrontational situations.
  • A strong customer service focus and a commitment to delivering quality service outcomes.
  • The ability to apply legislation, policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • A flexible approach to work, including participation in a rotating roster, weekend and on-call duties, public holidays and providing relief to other Rangers when required.

You take pride in representing Council and are committed to making a positive difference to the community through professional, fair and consistent parking compliance.
