Job summary

The Law Society of New South Wales is seeking a part-time Paralegal (3 days per week) to join the Professional Standards Department and support investigations, litigation and external intervention activities.

You will provide legal assistance, conduct research, manage files, draft precedents, and assist Directors while maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality. A minimum 2-year commitment is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal assistance and support to the Legal Officers in investigations, litigation, external intervention, and cost recovery.
• Carry out legal research and document or evidentiary review as requested by Legal Officers.
• Classify, organise and manage files, records, documents and evidence for litigation or external interventions.
• Draft precedent-based legal documents under supervision of Legal Officers.
• Support in managing reporting systems for external investigations, intervention, cost recovery and litigation.
• Provide support to the Director and Deputy Directors as required.

Please note this is not a short-term paralegal position and will require a commitment for a minimum of 2 years.

About The Role

You will provide legal support to the Legal Officers of the Investigations, Litigation and External Intervention teams within the Professional Standards Department in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing legal assistance and support to the Legal Officers in areas such as investigation, litigation, external intervention, and cost recovery.
• Carrying out legal research and document or evidentiary review as requested by the Legal Officers
• Classification, organisation and management of files, records, documents and evidence for litigation or external interventions
• Drafting precedent based legal documents under the supervision of Legal Officers of Professional Standards.
• Provide support in managing reporting systems for key functions, such as external Investigations, intervention, cost recovery and litigation.
• Providing support to the Director, and Deputy Directors as required.
