Job summary

The Law Society of New South Wales is seeking a part-time Paralegal to support our Investigations regulatory team. The role offers 3 days per week and focuses on developing legal experience within the Professional Standards Department.

You will assist Legal Officers with investigations, litigation, external interventions, and cost recovery, conduct legal research, organise files, and draft precedents under supervision. Commitment for at least 2 years is required.

• Previous experience as a paralegal.

Responsibilities

• Providing legal assistance and support to the Legal Officers in areas such as investigation, litigation, external intervention, and cost recovery.
• Carrying out legal research and document or evidentiary review as requested by the Legal Officers
• Classification, organisation and management of files, records, documents and evidence for litigation or external interventions
• Drafting precedent based legal documents under the supervision of Legal Officers of Professional Standards.
• Provide support in managing reporting systems for key functions, such as external Investigations, intervention, cost recovery and litigation.
• Providing support to the Director, and Deputy Directors as required.

The Law Society of New South Wales works with and for the legal profession. We hold responsibility as a co-regulator and are Australia’s largest membership body for Solicitors. Our Professional Standards department is looking for a part time Paralegal for 3 days per week.

Please note this is not a short-term paralegal position and will require a commitment for a minimum of 2 years.

About the role
