Job summary

1300 Tow Pty Ltd, trading as 1300tow and Heavy Smash Repairs, based in Pakenham, VIC, is seeking an experienced Panelbeater who takes pride in careful, accurate metalwork to join its team.

Hours are 38 per week, full-time, with a salary between $75,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation per year. You will inspect, repair and refit panels on trucks, buses and heavy vehicles, coordinating with insurers and dispatch to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a Panelbeater; heavy vehicle repair experience is a plus.
• AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV in automotive body repair.

Responsibilities

• Inspect accident-damaged trucks, photograph each job for the insurer's assessor.
• Strip out damaged panels, bumpers, mirrors and trims to expose repair areas.
• Straighten bent chassis rails, cab structures and trailer frames with hydraulic gear.
• Cut out damaged metal and weld in new or used panels using MIG, TIG and spot welders.
• Beat out dents and creases, fill low spots, sand smooth for primer.
• Restore corrosion protection and apply primer/paint in the spray booth with precise colour matching.
• Refit repaired/new doors, bonnets, guards and body panels; ensure gaps and seals.
• Check finished job for panel fit, paint finish and proper operation; coordinate with dispatch.
