Responsibilities and Tasks

• Inspect vehicle bodywork and assess damage to metal, fibreglass and plastic panels to determine the most appropriate repair method.
• Remove damaged panels, parts, trims, upholstery and accessories where required to gain safe access to affected body areas.
• Straighten damaged panels and body structures using hand tools, mechanical equipment and hydraulic straightening systems to restore correct alignment.
• Repair dents and surface damage by hammering, filling, filing, grinding and sanding panels to achieve smooth, accurate contours ready for finishing.
• Cut, shape, weld and fit replacement body sections and panels when damaged components cannot be effectively repaired.
• Fit repaired or replacement panels and refit body hardware, trims, locks and related components, checking alignment, clearances and operation.
• Review repair instructions and job requirements, identify additional damage or parts needs, and communicate findings promptly to support efficient workshop workflow.
• Coordinate with painters, detailers and other workshop personnel so repaired surfaces are properly prepared and completed to the business's vehicle presentation standards.
• Carry out final quality and safety checks on completed repairs, maintain tools and work areas in good order, and follow workshop safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant qualification.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Panelbeater
• Strong knowledge of automotive body repair techniques for metal, fibreglass and plastic components.
• Competence in panel beating, welding, grinding, sanding and the use of mechanical and hydraulic repair equipment.
• Ability to assess damage accurately and restore panel fit, body alignment and finish to a high standard.

Salary
