Job summary

Engineering People is seeking a hands-on Machine Operator to operate a panel saw and cut engineering plastics and sheet products to specifications. You will read job sheets and drawings, set up machinery, and ensure accuracy and quality in a busy manufacturing environment.

The role requires safety-conscious, detail-oriented individuals who can work efficiently with minimal supervision while collaborating with the production team to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Previous panel saw operating experience is essential.
• Manufacturing, production or workshop experience preferred.
• Ability to read measurements and work accurately.
• Ability to read basic technical drawings or job specifications.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate panel saw machinery safely and efficiently.
• Accurately cut sheet materials to specified dimensions.
• Read and interpret job sheets, drawings and measurements.
• Set up machinery and select appropriate cutting parameters.
• Measure and inspect finished cuts to ensure accuracy.
• Load and unload materials safely.
• Identify material requirements and minimise wastage.
• Perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
• Follow all company WHS and quality procedures.
• Complete production documentation and job records.
• Assist with general workshop and production duties when required.
• Work closely with other production and machining team members to meet deadlines.
