Job summary

Mentis Australia is seeking an experienced Pallet Racking Leading Hand to lead installation crews and deliver high-quality projects at customer sites across South East Queensland. This hands-on leadership role involves supervising installation, modification, and dismantling of pallet racking and warehouse storage systems, ensuring safety and workmanship meet plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience installing pallet racking or warehouse storage systems.
• Previous experience leading a small installation crew or coordinating site-based work.
• Strong ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, complete set-out work, and solve installation issues.
• Current driver''s licence and reliable transport required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside installation crews to install, modify, relocate, and dismantle pallet racking and warehouse storage systems.
• Review site plans, layouts, job instructions, and manufacturer specifications before commencing work.
• Coordinate daily site activities, allocate tasks, and monitor progress against project requirements.
• Conduct site inductions, pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing hazard assessments.
• Ensure racking is measured, set out, levelled, plumbed, anchored, and secured accurately.
• Supervise the safe use of hand tools, power tools, access equipment, and lifting equipment.
• Monitor workmanship, complete quality checks, and promptly address installation issues or defects.
• Liaise professionally with customers, supervisors, project managers, and other trades.
• Maintain site records, report progress, and elevate delays, variations, hazards, or material requirements.
• Coach team members, support less-experienced installers, and promote a positive and productive crew culture.
• Ensure compliance with site rules, safe work procedures, and all workplace health and safety requirements.

Job description

Mentis Australia T/A Macrack is a leading Australian supplier and manufacturer of Australian-made pallet racking materials, servicing customers nationwide.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, reliable, and safety-focused Pallet Racking Leading Hand to lead installation crews and deliver high-quality projects at customer sites.

This hands-on leadership role involves supervising and participating in the installation, modification, and dismantling of pallet racking and warehouse storage systems. You will coordinate installers on site, allocate daily tasks, monitor safety and workmanship, liaise with customers and project stakeholders, and help ensure each project is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with plans and specifications.

Working Arrangements

Full-time position based from Pinkenba, with work completed at customer sites

Start and finish times may vary to meet project and site requirements

Regular travel throughout South East Queensland, with occasional regional or interstate work as required

Overtime and occasional weekend work may be available

Immediate start available for the right candidate

Skills, Licences & Experience

Demonstrated experience installing pallet racking or warehouse storage systems

Previous experience leading a small installation crew or coordinating site-based work

Strong ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, complete set-out work, and solve installation issues

Construction Industry White Card required

Current driver's licence and reliable transport required

Working at Heights and relevant EWP High Risk Work Licence highly regarded

Forklift licence and first aid training are advantageous

Confidence using hand tools, power tools, access equipment, and lifting equipment safely

Sound understanding of site safety requirements, hazard controls, and safe work procedures

Clear communication, organisation, and team leadership skills

Ability to maintain accurate site records and provide concise progress updates

Good level of physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks

Reliable, punctual, and willing to travel when required

Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and customer service
