Job summary

SJR Industries in Griffith NSW is seeking a qualified Painting Trades Worker to join our team. You will perform surface preparation of steel, use chemicals and a range of hand tools, and apply coatings to ensure long-lasting finishes.

You will read blueprints and operate spray equipment, blast pots, and perform sandblasting and other coating techniques as required. Ideally you will have a Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application and several years of experience in a similar

• Experience in painting-related field is preferred.
• Able to follow blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation of steel for painting using chemicals and hand tools.
• Clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion and fill dents on fabricated steel items.
• Operate blast pots and spray guns and apply coatings using various methods.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings.
• Ensure safe operation of tools and equipment and maintain quality finishes.

Job Description

SJR Industries are currently seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Painting Trades Workers to join their team in Griffith NSW. The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

• Surface preparation of steel for painting, safely using chemicals and a range of hand tools
• Clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings.
• Operate various equipment, such as blast pots and spray guns
• Knowledge of various painting methods and applications
• Sandblasting, abrasive and chemical techniques, masking and etching of applications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprint, sketches and drawings
• Safe operation of tools and equipment
• Grinding, sanding and polishing of steel
• Understanding of painting, caulking and sealing and putting them in to practice
• Ability to apply all types of coatings using various application methods

Skills & Abilities

• Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or relevant
• Ideally have 3 years’ experience within relevant or similar field
• Ability to work in a team environment
