Qualifications

• Qualified Tradesman Painter (Cert III in Painting & Decorating).
• Formal qualifications or apprenticeship in painting and decorating.
• 3–5 years' experience as painter/decorator in residential, commercial or strata.
• Surface prep and interior/exterior painting techniques.
• Attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.
• Professional client communication and reliability.
• WWCC or willingness to obtain if required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites.

Platinum Painting & Maintenance is looking for a trade-qualified Painter & Decorator to join our Newcastle team full-time. Working across residential, commercial & strata projects, you’ll take pride in thorough preparation, precise application and exceptional finishes. We’re seeking someone reliable, organised and committed to quality, who works well within a team and treats every client’s property with care and respect.

Key responsibilities

• Interior & Exterior painting on high end residential, commercial and strata properties
• Meeting Deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
• Working collaboratively with team members to complete projects on schedule and to specification
• Preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, gapping, filling and priming to a high standard
• Applying paint, stains, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spraying equipment
• Experience with spray painting equipment is preferred but not required
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring client satisfaction
• Applying paint, varnish and other decorative finishes using appropriate techniques and equipment
• Adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised work environment
• Conducting quality checks to ensure work meets company standards and customer expectations
• Communicating effectively with customers to understand their requirements and ensuring satisfaction

What we're looking for

• Qualified Tradesman Painter (cert 3 in Painting & Decorating at TAFE)
• Formal qualifications or apprenticeship in painting and decorating
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a painter and decorator in residential, commercial or strata settings
• Proven expertise in surface preparation, interior and exterior painting techniques
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally with clients
• Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one if required
• Ability to work independently or part of a team
• Health and Safety awareness and commitment to following safe working practices
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights using appropriate safety equipment
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites
