Job summary

SPS Painting is seeking an experienced Painter to join our Brisbane team. This permanent, full-time role offers 38 hours per week and a salary between AU$79,423 and AU$85,000 per year, plus super.

The successful candidate will perform surface preparation, apply paints and coatings, and ensure safety and quality compliance across residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Queensland.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience as a Painter.
• Strong understanding of painting techniques, surface prep and finishing methods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks and holes, removing old paint or wallpaper, and applying sealants where required.
• Examine surfaces and determine appropriate preparation and painting methods.
• Mix and match paints, stains, and coatings to achieve required colours and finishes.
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains, enamels, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Apply undercoats and finishing coats to a range of surfaces including timber, metal, plaster, concrete, and masonry.
• Operate and maintain painting tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
• Calculate and manage paint and material requirements for projects.
• Ensure painting work meets company quality standards and project specifications.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and proper disposal of waste materials.
• Comply with workplace health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

• A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to various work sites when required.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade qualification.
• Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously within commercial, residential, or industrial environments.
