Job summary

Devonport City Council, in partnership with Work & Training, offers a four-year paid apprenticeship to complete a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220). You’ll work across a diverse fleet, gaining hands-on experience with vehicles and heavy machinery while earning a qualification.

You’ll be supported by an Apprenticeship Consultant and study delivered in six one-week blocks per year, combining classroom learning with real-world practice.

Qualifications

• Current Tasmanian driver's licence.
• Good literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and workplace instructions.
• Comfortable working around oils, grease, petrol and diesel.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose faults and solve mechanical problems.
• Use industry-standard tools, equipment and technology.
• Inspect and test machinery to ensure it is operating safely.
• Work alongside experienced mechanics and tradespeople.
