Job summary

Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre, part of Blacktown City Council, is hiring a Labourer to perform grounds maintenance, minor repairs and general labouring outdoors. You’ll keep areas clean and safe for animals, staff and visitors, and work well alone or with a team while prioritising safety.

The role offers a secure, permanent full-time position with a 38-hour week, penalty rates for weekends, and opportunities for ongoing training within a supportive council environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, labouring or similar work.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns, control weeds, collect litter and inspect maintenance issues.
• Maintain gardens and operate grounds maintenance equipment.
• Assist with setting up/fixing fencing, shelters and exercise areas; move deliveries and supplies.
• Support safe movement of animals and general operation of the centre.
