Job summary

Southern Grampians Shire Council is seeking a Gardener to maintain and enhance parks, gardens, reserves and open spaces across Dunkeld and Glenthompson. The role is hands-on, outdoors-focused, and part of a collaborative Parks & Gardens team.

The ideal candidate will have parks/heritage gardening experience, practical tool/equipment skills, and a commitment to safety. A Victorian driver's licence is required, and relevant horticultural qualifications are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience in parks, gardens, horticulture, landscaping, grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor environment.
• Practical skills and confidence using relevant tools, plant and equipment.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a positive, can-do approach.
• A current Victorian Driver Licence.
• Relevant horticultural qualifications, licences or tickets would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining parks, gardens, reserves and other public open spaces.
• Mowing, brush cutting, edging and general grounds maintenance.
• Planting, pruning, mulching and maintaining trees, shrubs and garden beds.
• Weed control and general horticultural activities.
• Operating and maintaining relevant plant, machinery and equipment.
• Assisting with the establishment and improvement of landscaped areas.
• Supporting seasonal and programmed maintenance activities.
• Working safely and efficiently as part of a practical, collaborative team.
