Job summary

South East Water is seeking an experienced OT Cyber Delivery Specialist to strengthen the cyber security, resilience and operational integrity of our OT environment. The role is hands-on, requiring practical experience across ICS/SCADA, RTUs, PLCs and field devices to ensure safe and reliable water services.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, commission and troubleshoot RTUs, PLCs and OT equipment.
• Deliver upgrades, migrations, testing, cutovers and commissioning across OT environments.
• Administer and support SCADA and historian platforms (GeoSCADA, PI Historian).
• Troubleshoot telemetry, communications, alarms, integrations and control performance.
• Configure industrial protocols including DNP3 and DNP3-SA.
• Investigate network, routing, firewall and protocol issues across OT environments.
• Deliver OT cyber security initiatives (network segmentation, IT/OT separation, secure remote access).
• Support OT asset discovery, visibility and resilience through secure architecture and monitoring practices.
• Develop technical requirements, implementation plans, testing strategies and handover artefacts.
• Partner with operational teams, engineers, cyber specialists and vendors to deliver secure OT solutions.

The role

South East Water is seeking an experienced OT Cyber Delivery Specialist to deliver and enhance the cyber security, resilience and operational integrity of our Operational Technology (OT) environment.

This is a hands-on engineering and delivery role suited to an OT practitioner with practical experience working across industrial control systems, SCADA environments, telemetry networks and field devices. You'll play a critical role in strengthening cyber security while ensuring the safety, reliability and availability of operational systems that support essential water services.

What you'll do:

• Configure, program, commission and troubleshoot RTUs, PLCs and field-based operational technology equipment.


• Deliver upgrades, migrations, testing, cutovers and commissioning activities across OT environments.


• Administer and support SCADA and historian platforms, including GeoSCADA, PI Historian or equivalent technologies.


• Troubleshoot telemetry, communications, alarms, integrations and end-to-end control system performance.


• Configure and support industrial communications protocols, including DNP3 and DNP3 Secure Authentication (DNP3-SA).


• Investigate and resolve network, connectivity, routing, firewall and protocol-related issues across OT environments.


• Deliver OT cyber security initiatives, including network segmentation, IT/OT separation, secure remote access and privileged access controls.


• Support OT asset discovery, visibility and operational resilience through secure architecture and monitoring practices.


• Develop technical requirements, implementation plans, testing strategies, documentation and operational handover artefacts.


• Partner with operational teams, engineers, cyber specialists and vendors to deliver secure, reliable and compliant OT solutions.

Who are you?

You are a practical OT engineer who understands how operational systems work in real-world environments. You will bring:

• Significant hands-on OT engineering experience within utilities, water, energy, manufacturing, transport or other critical infrastructure environments.


• Demonstrated experience configuring, programming and commissioning RTUs and PLCs.


• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, telemetry and field communications.


• Experience with SCADA platforms, ideally GeoSCADA or similar environments.


• Experience working with historian platforms such as PI Historian.


• Knowledge of DNP3 and exposure to DNP3 Secure Authentication (DNP3-SA).


• Experience supporting OT Active Directory environments, service identities and authentication integrations.


• Strong understanding of industrial networking, routing, switching, firewalls and secure remote access.


• Experience applying cyber security principles within operational environments.


• Ability to analyse technical issues, investigate faults and support critical operational systems.


• Excellent stakeholder engagement, vendor management and communication skills.
