Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner (AP) in Elective Orthopaedics at Broadgreen Hospital. You will support pre and post-operative care across a 7-day service, working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth patient pathways.

The role requires at least two years of therapy experience in healthcare. If you lack the AP qualification, you will be supported to complete the AP apprenticeship, provided you have an NVQ Level 3 in

Qualifications

• Has minimum two years’ therapy experience in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of orthopaedics and discharge planning is desirable.
• Support to complete AP apprenticeship programme if lacking AP qualification.

Responsibilities

• Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and assess needs according to agreed protocols.
• Plan and implement treatment/intervention for the specified patient group.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions; liaise with MDT.
• Obtain informed consent and set individual goals with patients and carers.
• Record and report findings following standard department procedures.
• Refer to other MDT members and external agencies as needed.
• Undertake community-based interventions where appropriate.
• Maintain dignity and respect of patients and carers at all times.
• Assess, fit and demonstrate adaptive equipment per guidelines.
• Refer for minor adaptations under supervision of a Registered Therapist.
• Provide information to patients and carers about local health and social care services.
• Identify and address barriers to understanding in all practices.
