Job summary

Macquarie University Health is seeking an experienced Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse to join The Orthopaedic Institute on a casual basis.

You will scrub and scout across a range of orthopaedic procedures, support surgeons, maintain counts, and help ensure patient safety in a fast-paced perioperative unit. Applicants must have AHPRA RN registration and at least two years perioperative experience in scrub/scout roles.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years perioperative experience in a scrub/scout role.
• Experience with orthopaedic instrumentation and implants is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub and scout duties across orthopaedic procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and manage instruments, implants and equipment.
• Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation per MQ Health policy.
• Apply infection prevention and control practices in perioperative care.
• Assist in orientation and support of junior staff and students.
• Participate in quality improvement, audits and policy development.
• Be flexible with shifts, including weekends on a rotating roster.
