SustainHealth Recruitment is seeking an experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join a private acute hospital in southeast Melbourne. The role leads a 30-bed Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery ward, supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in day-to-day operations and championing patient care, staff development and clinical governance.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor of Nursing.
• Previous leadership or management experience within an acute hospital environment.
• Experience in Orthopaedic, Neurosurgical or Surgical nursing.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and national safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work a 7‑day rotating roster, including night duty.
• Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty are desirable but not essential.
• Full Australian working rights required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and support the Nurse Unit Manager in daily ward operations.
• Support workforce management and staffing of a 30-bed Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery ward.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure high standards of patient care.
• Collaborate with Visiting Medical Officers and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
• Promote staff development and a culture of safety and governance.
