Job summary

Department of Health WA External Careers seeks a Fellow in Ophthalmic Surgery (Uveitis, Medical Retina and General Ophthalmology) for a fixed-term 6–12 month pool, commencing 1 February 2027. The role involves comprehensive ophthalmic care with emphasis on uveitis and retina diseases, teaching, and research.

The Fellow supervises trainees, conducts research, and may observe or assist surgeons with procedures. Salary includes base, 12% superannuation, and development allowance.

Qualifications

• Responsible for undertaking general ophthalmological care of inpatients and outpatients, with emphasis on uveitis and medical retina disease.
• Fellows supervise trainees and junior doctors and contribute to teaching.
• Fellows have dedicated research time and prepare papers for meetings and publication.
• Opportunity to observe or assist consultants with surgery or treatment outside RPH and outreach to remote WA.

Responsibilities

• Undertake general ophthalmological care for inpatients and outpatients.
• Supervise trainees and junior doctors; contribute to teaching.
• Engage in research time and publish findings.
• Support outreach to remote areas of Western Australia.
