Job summary

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a Level 5 Civil Operations role at the Mirani Depot to operate plant and heavy rigid trucks, perform pre-start checks and deliver civil works across the Mackay region.

The position requires plant operation skills, appropriate licences (White Card, C class, HR), and a Certificate of Competency for road construction plant, with TMI seen as an advantage or achievable within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Experience operating plant and heavy trucks in road/construction settings.
• Current White Card, C class licence and HR licence or interstate equivalents.
• Certificate of Competency for road construction plant preferred.
• TMI qualification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment and heavy rigid trucks and perform pre-start checks.
• Carry out daily maintenance and basic servicing tasks.
• Deliver roads, drainage and civil infrastructure works across the Mackay region.

Join our Civil Operations team at the Mirani Depot in this Level 5 (Stream B) role. Operate plant and heavy rigid trucks, carry out pre-start checks and daily maintenance, and deliver roads, drainage and civil infrastructure works across the Mackay region.

You'll need:

• Plant operation and truck driving skills, plus roads and drainage maintenance or construction experience.
• A White Card, manual Queensland C class licence and Heavy Rigid (HR) licence, or interstate equivalents.
• A Certificate of Competency to operate road construction plant (such as skid steer, roller, loader or backhoe).
• Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) qualification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months.
• A safety-first approach, a positive attitude and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Interstate licences must be transferred to Queensland within three months of commencement. A Certificate III in Civil Construction and experience in concrete works are desirable.
