Job summary

Select Harvests Limited is seeking an Operator Maintainer for our Cogeneration (Cogen) Power Plant team at the Carina West Processing Facility. You will support safe, reliable operation of boilers, turbines, pumps and balance‑of‑plant equipment.

The role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement to maximise plant reliability and performance, on a 7 day on, 7 day off roster.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications in mechanical field and boiler/turbine tickets.
• Experience in power generation, cogeneration or heavy industrial environment.
• Ability to maintain boilers, turbines, pumps and conveyors.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on power generation equipment.
• Operate and optimise boilers, steam systems and turbines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and improve plant reliability.
• Support outage planning and major maintenance projects.
• Follow site procedures, permits and safety rules.
• Maintain maintenance records and report findings.
• Contribute to safety, efficiency and reliability improvements.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Operator Maintainer to join our Cogeneration (Cogen) Power Plant team at our Carina West Processing Facility. This role is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a renewable energy power generation facility, including steam boilers, turbines, pressure vessels, fuel handling systems, water treatment plant equipment, pumps, conveyors and associated balance-of-plant equipment.

Working on a 7 day on, 7 day off roster, you will play a key role in power plant operations and maintenance, carrying out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise plant reliability, availability and performance.

What you'll do

• Perform preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on power generation and plant equipment.
• Assist with the operation, monitoring and optimisation of boilers, steam generation systems and turbines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment faults and identify opportunities to improve plant reliability.
• Support outage planning, shutdown activities and major maintenance projects.
• Work safely in accordance with site procedures, permit systems and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency and reliability.

What we’re looking for

• Mechanical Trade Qualification (Fitter & Turner, Fitter/Machinist or similar).
• Boilermaker/Welder Trade Qualification.
• Advanced BA Boiler and TO Turbine tickets.
• Experience within a power generation, cogeneration, utility, manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Experience maintaining steam boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, pumps, conveyors, rotating equipment and associated plant infrastructure.
• Experience operating pressure vessels and steam generation equipment.
• Forklift and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licences.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication, time management and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive attitude with excellent attention to detail.
