Whitehaven Coal is seeking experienced Dragline Operators for Blackwater Mine in Queensland. You will operate some of the largest draglines in the Southern Hemisphere and work with industry-leading professionals in a safety-focused environment where your skills impact daily production.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating large draglines in open-cut coal mining.
• Strong understanding of strip mining methods, dig plans and production needs.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and hazard awareness.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a high-performing crew.
• Relevant RII competencies and ability to meet site access, medical and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate world-class dragline equipment following site procedures, safety standards and regulations.
• Drive production performance by executing dig plans, optimising cycle times and meeting daily targets.
• Conduct pre-start inspections, monitor machine performance and report defects or hazards.
• Collaborate with dozer operators, supervisors, dispatch teams and technical specialists to keep the operation safe and efficient.
• Support Whitehaven's safety culture and zero-harm commitment on site.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operate at Scale
• Safely operate world-class dragline equipment while following site procedures, safety standards, and Queensland mining regulations.
• Drive Production Performance
• Execute dig plans, optimise cycle times, and contribute to achieving daily production targets across a large-scale strip mining operation.
• Conduct pre-start inspections, monitor machine performance, and proactively identify and report defects, hazards, and improvement opportunities.
• Work with the Best - Collaborate with dozer operators, supervisors, dispatch teams, and technical specialists to keep the operation moving safely and efficiently.
• Play an active role in maintaining Whitehaven's strong safety culture and commitment to a zero-harm workplace.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience operating large draglines such as 8050, 8200, BE1370 or similar in an open-cut coal mining environment.
• Strong understanding of strip mining methods, dig plans, and production requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and hazard awareness.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a high-performing crew.
• Relevant RII competencies and the ability to satisfy site access, medical, and statutory requirements.
