Blackbook Recruitment seeks an Operations Supervisor for a South Sydney warehousing and distribution site. You will report to the Site Manager and support the management team across commercial, dispatch, engineering and maintenance functions.

Job description

Our client is a leading industrial business operating in the storage and movement of dangerous goods. They have a strong focus on customer service, safety and quality across their operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be working as the Operations Supervisor supporting the management team across the warehousing and distribution teams. This role involves working closely with the wider internal stakeholders, across commercial, dispatch, engineering and maintenance teams. The role will be based in South Sydney.

Key responsibilities include:

• The Operations Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supporting day‑to‑day site activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
• Supervision of contractors, including managing work permits, verifying safe systems of work, and ensuring all contracted activities are executed in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.
• The role also leads the planning, facilitation, and oversight of the operational training schedules to ensure all personnel are trained, assessed, and competent for their roles.
• The operations Supervisor is accountable for reviewing, updating, and maintaining operational procedures to ensure they remain accurate, effective, and aligned with the companies Safety Management System and operational standards.

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Open to industry experience but it must be closely aligned to logistics operations, industrial, energy, resources, oil and gas.
• Have a safety-first mindset and ability to drive initiatives to improve all aspects of safety across the business. Strong focus on OHS and prior experience of working with Dangerous Goods is preferable.
• Strong leadership skillset, able to inspire and improve performance through people and process.
• It is important that the successful candidates have experience across all of operations, including warehousing and distribution.
• Understanding of the quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives across operational environments.
