Job summary

RLX is seeking personnel for the Singleton Livestock Exchange. The role involves assisting in sale day activities, handling livestock, and managing post-sale processes. You will work with the team to ensure efficient sale yard operations and animal welfare.

Successful applicants will have demonstrated livestock handling experience, horsemanship, and the ability to operate tractors and loaders. Physical fitness and teamwork are essential for this on-site role at RLX’s Singleton facility.

Qualifications

• Experience in livestock handling and sale yard processes.

• Demonstrated horsemanship skills and ability to work livestock on horseback.
• Capable of operating feed mixer tractors and Bobcat loaders.
• Able to perform physically demanding manual tasks.
• Communicate effectively with staff, customers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sale day activities including pre-sale scanning of livestock.
• Receival, loading and unloading of livestock; drafting and penning.
• Post-sale weighing and delivery; counting and reconciling animals sold.
• Undertake feeding of livestock.
• Follow directions from Business Manager and work as part of a team.

Job description

Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) is a leading agriculture organisation with core strengths of Infrastructure Management, stock handling and sales services, our operations are located throughout the eastern seaboard. This role is located in at Singleton- Livestock Exchange (HRLX).

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

• Assist in sale day activities including:
• Pre-sale scanning of livestock;
• Receival of, loading and unloading of livestock
• Drafting and penning of livestock
• Post-sale weighing and delivery;
• Counting andreconcile animals sold and delivered;
• Undertake feeding of livestock;
• Other duties as directed by the Business Manager

Job requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in livestock handling and sale yard processes;
• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of animal welfare and safe work practices in a sale yard environment;
• Demonstrated skills in horsemanship and the ability to work livestock on horseback;
• Capable of operating feed mixer tractors bobcat loaders
• Ability to undertake manual activities and meet the physical demands of a sale yard working environment;
• Ability to take direction, follow policies and procedures and work well in a team as well as unsupervised;
• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders including staff, customers, agents and contractors; and
• Ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
