Job summary

EnergyAustralia is seeking an Operational Technology Infrastructure Specialist to join the Power Station Controls System and OT Team at Yallourn W Power Station. You will help maintain and uplift the OT environment, including the DCS, to ensure safe and reliable plant operation.

The role focuses on advancing OT cybersecurity, supporting multitude of projects, and broadening your technical exposure across a range of technologies within a critical infrastructure setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience with OT security and industrial networks.
  • Experience in industrial control systems environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical advice, troubleshooting and support for OT hardware, software, and networking
  • Install, configure, and upgrade OT endpoint devices, applications, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Support vulnerability and patch management and maintain OT asset inventory
  • Contribute to cybersecurity uplift and optimise network performance
  • Support continuous improvement of OT systems and develop plant solutions
  • Manage OT data in Maximo maintenance system
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering on plant modifications and upgrades

About the role

We're looking for an Operational Technology Infrastructure Specialist to join our Power Station Controls System and Operational Technology Team at Yallourn W Power Station.

Reporting to the Operational Technology Infrastructure Lead, you'll be a key team member of Power Station controls team where your day-to-day work has a real, visible impact.

In this newly created role, you will be part of a team that maintains, supports, and uplifts the Operational Technology (OT) environment that helps keep the station (including our DCS) running safely and reliably.

A key focus of the role is the continued uplift and maturity of OT Cyber security, with a multitude of targeted projects underway and planned to support this objective.

The role is an opportunity to broaden and deepen skills set across a broad range of technology in an always on critical infrastructure asset.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing day-to-day technical advice, troubleshooting and support for OT hardware, software, and networking
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading OT endpoint devices, applications, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Supporting vulnerability and patch management, and maintaining our OT asset inventory
  • Contributing to cybersecurity uplift and helping optimise network performance
  • Supporting continuous improvement of OT systems, and helping develop solutions to plant issues
  • Managing OT-related data in our maintenance management system (Maximo)
  • Working with maintenance, operations, engineering teams on plant modifications and upgrades
What we are looking for
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows infrastructure
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including switching, routing, and firewalling
  • Experience with virtual systems such as VMware vSphere, Proxmox or Hyper‑V
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a range of stakeholders in a small team
Your technical exposure
  • Vendor certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA or VMware VCP
  • Industry certifications such as SANS GICSP or ISA/IEC 62443
  • Experience with the ABB 800xA platform
  • Experience supporting Operational Technology in Industrial Control System environments
  • Experience working in a highly critical industrial environment, such as a power station or similar
