Operational Risk Specialist

Role — We’re looking for an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to join our Risk and Support divisions and play a key role in strengthening our risk culture and governance frameworks.

What You’ll Do

• Accurately assess operational risks across the business through the timely triage, data analysis and interpretation resulting in clear and concise reporting to management of current and emerging trends.
• Ensure all incidents and issues are raised in a timely manner, action plans address root cause and progress is tracking to due dates.
• Assist business stakeholder in the implementation and interpretation of new policies and procedures.
• Review and update relevant policies and procedures and test operational practices to ensure alignment with existing frameworks and guidance.
• Develop, test and report on operational controls, key risk indicators and quality assurance tests; working with stakeholders to develop action plans and uplift processes to drive resilience, efficiency and compliance by design.
• Oversee the complaints process, ensuring appropriate follow up and action and accuracy and completeness of system reporting.
• Assist in co-ordinating and completing the Risk Control Self-Assessment and business continuity plan processes.
• Validate the front-line training requirements are fit for purpose.

Your Experience

• At least 5 years in Financial Services, ideally with 3+ years in risk, compliance, or corporate governance.
• Experience in insurance or related sectors is a plus.

Your Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Compliance, Business, Commerce, Finance, or Law.
• Knowledge of ISO 31000 Risk Management is highly desirable.
• Insurance-related qualifications are a bonus.
