Job description

Who We Are

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering an annual portfolio of more than $1.2 billion, our work helps keep energy flowing safely and reliably to communities across Australia while supporting the nation’s energy transition.

With a workforce of more than 2,800 people, we deliver complex infrastructure, asset management and field services across Australia’s east coast. Our people draw on deep industry experience, an unwavering commitment to safety, and practical innovation to deliver the right outcomes for our clients and communities.

About the Role

We're looking for an Operational Improvement Manager to join our Zinfra Power Services South team supporting our client United Energy.

This is a unique opportunity to influence how work is performed across a major electricity distribution contract. Leading one direct report, you will work closely with operational teams and stakeholders to improve safety, compliance, efficiency and consistency across the business. You will have the autonomy to identify opportunities, investigate challenges and drive practical improvements that make a real and lasting impact.

  • Review incidents, work practices and emerging risks to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Partner with field teams to develop and embed best practice ways of working.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on work practices, regulatory compliance and operational performance.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency and compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with United Energy and key internal stakeholders.
About You

We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems, building credibility with operational teams and driving practical improvements that make a real difference.

  • Experience within electricity networks, transmission, utilities or a related operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety, compliance and field-based work practices, with a background in safety, quality, engineering, field leadership, regulatory compliance or a trade-based environment.
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution networks, including overhead and underground assets ("poles and wires"), would be highly regarded.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement, operational excellence or change initiatives.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Why Work With Us

We are proud to keep communities connected while preparing the nation for a renewable future. We are a certified family-friendly workplace and offer a range of benefits that support our people at work and outside it.

We know Zinfra is a great place to belong – but don’t just take our word for it. Hear directly from our people about what it's like to build a career, make an impact and be part of the team at Zinfra.

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, where role-appropriate
  • Recognition through our Incentivise program
  • Novated leasing, EV subscriptions and vehicle discounts

We champion and value diversity in life and work experiences, because broader perspectives strengthen our problem solving, decision making and ability to innovate.
