Job summary

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an Operating Theatre Assistant for a permanent part-time or full-time position. Based at the Springfield campus, the role is part of a landmark new facility opened early 2026 to serve the Greater Springfield region.

The role offers a competitive hourly salary of $35.74–$37.46 plus superannuation, with access to salary packaging and staff benefits. A current Open Driver’s Licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Operating Theatre Assistant is mandatory.
• Certificate III in Health Support Services is highly desirable.
• Experience in obstetric theatres is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of WHS and anti-discrimination practices
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating theatre procedures and sterile techniques.
• Support patient safety and hygiene in theatre.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to support patient care.

What you’ll be doing

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Operating Theatre Assistant to join us in a permanent part-time or full-time role.

Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield which opened early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+ access to many staff benefits!

About you

The successful candidate will have a current Open Driver’s Licence (with no restrictions).

• Experience as an Operating Theatre Assistant mandatory
• Certificate III in Health Support Services, highly desirable
• Experience in obstetric theatres, highly desirable
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety and anti-discrimination practices
• Strong customer service and communication skills
