Job summary

Techforce Personnel is assisting Byerwen Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin to recruit an experienced Open Cut Examiner (OCE). The role focuses on safe execution of mining activities, frontline safety oversight, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements to help meet production targets.

You will conduct inspections, identify hazards, lead crews, monitor conditions and prepare statutory reports while supporting incident investigations and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland Open Cut Examiner (OCE) qualification is required.
• Current Queensland Coal Board Medical is required.
• Standard 11 certification is required.
• Demonstrated experience in open-cut coal mining operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statutory inspections of active mining areas, haul roads, dumps and associated work areas.
• Identify, assess and control hazards across open-cut operations.
• Ensure mining activities comply with site procedures, legislation and statutory requirements.
• Provide clear direction and leadership to operational crews.
• Monitor changing ground, weather and operational conditions.
• Complete accurate statutory reports, inspections and shift documentation.
• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with production supervisors, operators and site leadership.
• Promote a strong safety culture while supporting productive mining operations.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Current Queensland Open Cut Examiner (OCE) qualification
• Current Queensland Coal Board Medical
• Standard 11
• Demonstrated experience within open-cut coal mining operations
• Strong knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and statutory obligations
• Experience supervising and coordinating operational mining activities
• Strong hazard identification and risk management capability
• Confident communication and leadership skills
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety
• Current Australian driver's licence
