Job summary

Coronado Global Resources Inc. is seeking a permanent Open Cut Examiner for our Curragh Complex on a 7/7 roster. This hands-on, field-based role identifies risk, conducts inspections and supports safe production outcomes.

You will work with leaders and crews to ensure compliance with safety legislation, maintain records, and contribute to training while driving continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Queensland Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency required.
• Experience as an Open Cut Examiner in open cut coal mining preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Demonstrated safety leadership and risk management approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statutory inspections and compliance audits.
• Monitor safety systems, procedures, and legislation.
• Identify, assess and manage operational risks.
• Participate in incident investigations.
• Support safety training and awareness.

At our Curragh Complex, the Open Cut Examiner plays a critical role in ensuring mining activities are carried out safely and in line with statutory requirements.

About the Role

We are seeking a permanent Open Cut Examiner to join our Curragh team on a 7/7 roster. This is a hands on, field based role where you will work closely with leaders and crews to identify risk, conduct inspections, and support safe production outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct statutory inspections and compliance audits
• Monitor and enforce safety systems, procedures, and legislation
• Identify, assess, and manage operational risks
• Participate in incident and accident investigations
• Support and contribute to safety training and awareness
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
• Drive continuous improvement in safety systems and processes

About You

• Queensland Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency
• Previous experience working as an OCE in open cut coal mining
• Strong knowledge of Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation
• A practical, visible approach to safety leadership and risk management

This is a permanent role working a 7/7 roster.
