Job summary

Department of Defence – Army in Symonston, ACT is seeking an AI Governance, Assurance and TEVV Specialist. The role is onsite, requiring Australian citizenship and an active NV1 security clearance to support Army AI assurance and governance activities.

You will lead across AI governance, testing and evaluation, engage Defence and industry partners, and translate technical findings into actionable reports for senior decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive professional experience in AI/ML governance and assurance.
• Minimum five years' experience in AI, ML, data science or advanced technology solutions.
• Ability to translate policy into practical technology-enabled outcomes.
• Experience briefing senior stakeholders with evidence-based recommendations.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams across defence, industry and government.
• Security clearance NV1 or higher is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI governance artefacts such as Use Cases, System Cards and Model Cards.
• Review AI policies and proposals and advise on implications.
• Support implementation and improvement of AI governance and assurance.
• Analyse complex issues and provide evidence-based advice to decision-makers.
• Engage with Defence, industry, academia and other government organisations.
• Translate technical findings into clear reports and decision-support products.
• Identify risks and opportunities and propose appropriate responses.
• Capture lessons learned and transfer knowledge for workforce continuity.
