Job summary

Cabrini Health is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support Oncology & Haematology patients at Cabrini Malvern. Full time or part-time across a 7-day roster with weekend and public holiday coverage; shifts 0730–1430, working with registered nurses and the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.

You will help with bed making, observing patient conditions, responding to queries, and maintaining a respectful, private environment while upholding dignity.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent qualification as per position description)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and families
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and high standards of care
• Previous experience in an acute hospital setting (preferable)

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of patient care under the direction and supervision of registered nurses
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Respond to patient and family queries, escalating to the registered nurse as appropriate
• Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive patient environment, including bed making and equipment checks
• Uphold patient privacy, dignity, and respect at all times
